The warehouse was originally used for storage of spices and other articles of commerce from the Far East. As lorries and planes began to take over a great deal of the overseas trade, the importance of the warehouse was somewhat diminished. Consequently it was turned into a storage room for furniture. Everywhere at the hotel you can still see the original rafters made of Pomeranian pine, making you sense an atmosphere of bygone days.
